Hi there! I’m a professional writer who lives for crisp, clear communications. I live for writing that tells a great story, is full of personality and jumps off the page. Before any of that though, I am very fond of a good cup of coffee.

In a few short words, here is the pitch:..Lucid Content helps marketing professionals transform the everyday world of features and benefits and business language into clear, passionate, creative expression. How do we do that? We ask deep, probing questions to excavate the truth about what your business really means — to you and to the people who need you.

I work in these four areas: Technology | Education | The Arts | Health Care

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about how Apple’s copy on the iPad2 campaign is perhaps not as heartfelt as it might be.  Here’s a link to the whole story.

If you want a little more of my story, there are pictures and stories below.

My writing life launched soon after 9/11. One day I was employed by Kodak. And then I wasn’t. At the time, I was living next door to the lifelong home of this great American writer>>

It’s funny where new careers begin sometimes. This story begins with a series of projects for Carroll Hospital Center, in Westminster, MD. The folks at CHC were great clients. That led to more work at LifeBridge Health in Baltimore and articles on Back Pain, Aging, Bariatric Surgery and Dry Eye Syndrome. I learned a lot. LifeBridge Health were also great clients.

Advertising in the National Parks sounds like it could be boring, but it isn’t. I wrote a white paper on this topic for the U.S. Department of the Interior. I worked on some projects with the fine folks at Rock Creek Creative, a strategic marketing and branding agency in Bethesda. I wrote brochure copy, press releases and web copy. And more web copy.

In 2006, I published my first piece, On Tone of Voice Branding, at Marketingprofs.com.

The Empire Writes Back - A Book Review

The Empire Writes Back is about Tone of Voice in business writing. Voice is a way for an organization to project personality and brand. It’s language as differentiator. Big in the UK, less so in the States.
